Our Mission: To connect and inform communities throughout the Ellesmere and Selwyn district (Canterbury, New Zealand) and to provide a quality newspaper that will help strengthen those ties.
The Ellesmere Echo
Circulation: 3,000 –This covers the area from Southbridge, Leeston, Doyleston and RD 13 together with rural delivery areas RD 2 & RD 3 in between. There are additional drop-off points in Rakaia, Lincoln, Springston and Rolleston.
Extra coverage is now included through this site, the Selwyn App and on Facebook.
We, at the Echo try to be environmentally friendly with all our business decisions and wish to inform our readers that we have chosen environmentally friendly inks and we print on recycled paper.
We support local and our paper is printed nearby by Canterbury Print Service in Christchurch.
The Selwyn Awards are back in 2023 to showcase all that is great about the district. They recognise the outstanding work and achievements of businesses, not-for-profit organisations and individuals who live or work within the Selwyn district.
The awards, held every second year, are a celebration of excellence and inspirational accomplishments, presented during a gala evening at the Selwyn Sports Centre, featuring awards presentations, dinner and live entertainment.
The categories have been updated and we now have 11 award categories. The awards are be based on a points system which will allow for multiple gold, silver and bronze winners in each category along with an overall category winner. Businesses, groups and individuals will be able to enter themselves for awards.
For the first time ever The Ellesmere Echo has applied for recognition in the Selwyn Awards. We would ask that you get in behind our application and vote for us in the Business Resilience Section.
The Business Resilience Award is for businesses or social enterprises that have been in Selwyn for some time and recognises the outstanding contribution made to continuing economic wellbeing in Selwyn, the wider Canterbury region, within New Zealand and/or internationally. This award is open to all businesses or social enterprises that have been operating for more than two years.
